It is safe to say that we as a community, rely on Volunteers immensely. Though often undervalued and overlooked, I believe most Victorians would be surprised by just how many of our essential services rely on the generosity of volunteers.
Victoria’s 2.3 million volunteers contribute an average 223.9 hours each per year, representing one of the state’s largest workforces and contributing $58.1 billion in value to the Victorian economy. This is a large workforce that needs greater support from the government.
The value of volunteering cannot be overstated. There are a number of policies that can be adopted to both recruit and retain volunteers, supporting them in their work supporting the community.
