Social Tennis

Aug 5, 2022 | Electorate, News, Parliament

My constituency question is for the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events. I had a constituent reach out to me regarding the closure of the Boroondara Tennis Centre at the end of this year. This facility has allowed many to play social tennis every night of the week after work. Its closure means that there will be a few hundred tennis players who will need to relocate to surrounding clubs, none of which cater for social tennis every night. My understanding is that there is a new tennis centre opening at the Glen Waverley golf course in 2024. Apart from this being some time away, it is also quite a distance from the Boroondara facilities. So I ask: what is the government’s plan to ensure that the Boroondara community can access social tennis after hours?
